Tyan, the creative genius behind Dramagical Entertainment Ltd, is a master of merriment and a virtuoso of verse. With her enchanting program “Stories and Rhymes with Tyan,” she’s spinning tales and tunes that have children (and their parents!) utterly captivated.

What are your public sessions like?

Imagine a world where nursery rhymes meet global beats, where

traditional tales are sprinkled with a dash of the extraordinary. That’s

the world Tyan creates in her musical workshops. She’s not just reciting Humpty Dumpty; she’s taking you on a grand adventure, one rhyme at a time.

Her program is as diverse as it is delightful. There’s something for every little one, from the tiny tots in the “Shufflers” class to the

energetic explorers in “Walkers and Talkers”. Each session is a

whirlwind of fun, perfectly tailored to the child’s age and stage.

So, if you’re looking for a dash of drama, a sprinkle of song, and a whole lot of fun, look no further than Tyan Jones and Dramagical

Entertainment Ltd.

It’s not just entertainment - it’s “Dramagical”

All sessions use British Sign Language (BSL).

N.B. Apologies for issues with font size in this profile.

Background, and how they got into this sector?

After completing her degree, Tyan entered the teaching world

where her aim was always to help the younger

generation combat issues considered as being just as important as academic

studies.

Whilst on her teacher training, she worked closely with the

special educational needs and English as an

Additional Language departments,

completed an

introductory course in play therapy and shadowed a

therapist using these skills to mentor children and staff

members.

This is where a lot of her expertise comes from when

creating workshops.

Tyan has also taught hearing babies,

toddlers and their parents/carers sign language as a

communication aide. Tyan is an advocate for signing for

both communication and inclusivity for children with

additional needs.

Tyan has found British Sign Language (BSL) very useful and having studied it and also gained  some qualifications in it she has used it in her work

with children and so has been able to

communicate with the wider community (e.g. CODA). Tyan loves to share signs with everyone and

encourages them to learn the language.

As a result of  being diagnosed with hearing

loss in both ears in her adult years means she is more aware

that everyone should learn this skill.

Creating

workshops celebrating diversity and promoting equality is a

passion of Tyan's and for children to learn about each other’s cultures

and parents too.

What is Cuban Vibes?

We are a Latin and African dance group located in Northwest London. Our main focus is on

providing classes and workshops that cater to both children and adults.

What are your public sessions like?

Our workshops follow a syllabus and are designed to be inclusive and suitable for all age

groups. These sessions are primarily conducted in educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and

universities, spanning a wide age range, from year 3 students to university-level participants.

How you got into your sector

Carlton's journey in dance

began during his childhood, where he actively participated in school musical performances such as

Fame and Oliver Twist.

In college, he expanded his dance repertoire to include various styles such as jazz, contemporary, and street dance.

Calrton's introduction to salsa dancing came about through a friend he had met during his jazz dance days.

As a dedicated dancer, Carlton explored the world to enhance his skills, travelling to places like Cuba, to various locations in Europe and throughout the UK.

It was during these journeys that he gained valuable insights into his craft.

However, as he transitioned into a

teaching role, he recognised the importance of

introducing a structured approach and governance to his classes. This change allowed for better feedback and

guidance for his students.

Consequently, Carlton integrated lesson plans, schemes of work, and a  syllabus-based teaching style into his dance classes.

Over the years, this structured approach

has proven invaluable in maintaining consistency and fostering the continued teaching of dance.

¡Oir Salseros! London’s salsa sensation Orquesta Mambarito (OM) is an 11-strong group with a classic salsa line-up of trumpets, trombones, baritone sax and full Afro-Cuban rhythm

section, fronted by fabulous singers Victor Marchangioli (Venezuela) and Diego

Abril (Colombia).

¡A gozar! Bandleader David Strahan (baritone

sax) brought the group together during dark days of Covid lockdown to make video recordings of salsa classics like Ray Barretto’s Indestructible.

Since unlockdown they have been gigging hard and building up a dedicated following in

London’s Latino and salsa-dancing communities.

The band’s first single, The Mambarito Mambo, written and produced by Colombian vibes player and bandleader Dorance Lorza, is now available on all the main streaming platforms.

How you got into this sector of the arts  and/or what do you recommend for those interested in this sector?

It’s like that classic joke from New York:

“Cabbie, how do I get to Carnegie Hall?”

“Lady, you gotta practice!”

... Every day, for years.

Join other people’s

bands, and then, when you’re ready, form your own. Lots of practice.

Play the music you love.

But always keep the day job cause making a living in music is hard … But very rewarding!
